We welcome two SRI (Summer Research Intern) students, Ankia Mukherjee (Hillcrest High School, Junior) and Hayden Gardner (Jordan High School, Senior). We thank the College of Engineering at the University of Utah for organizing this program. Two students will work on programming on PV projects from June 12 to August 4.

2023 05 Graduation Lunch
We congratulate Aaron Coon (B.S.) and Josh Miraglia (M.S.) for earning their degrees. These two members performed excellent research work in Yoon’s group. While Josh is considering graduate school, Aaron has decided to work with Texas Instrument. We sincerely wish them the next step in their career path. Congratulations!!
2024 04 PV Discussion with K-12 Students
Yoon Research group hosted K-12 students In Utah to discuss their ideas about solar technologies. Wow, they had many clever ideas! In addition to the PV discussion, the graduate students in Yoon’s group gave a demo on how to measure solar cell performance using a solar simulator. It was a fun time.

Focused ion beam techniques have been frequently used to section metal-halide perovskites for microstructural investigations. However, the ion beams directly irradiating the sample surface may alter its properties far different from those of pristine, potentially leading to modified deterioration mechanisms under aging stressors. 2023 04 ECE Junior Seminar & Opening for Undergrads
Dr. Yoon presented the recent development of a wireless PV health monitoring system at the ECE Junior Seminar. This work has been primarily led by Aaron Coon (undergrad senior). 2023 04 Dr. Yoon wins 1U4U Innovation funding.
We are excited about a new research project developing radiation-hard perovskite devices for medical systems and space applications. This work will be performed in collaboration with Prof. Connor Bischak (Chemistry), Prof. Glenn Sjoden (Nuclear Engineering), and Prof. Geoffrey Nelson (Radiation Oncology).

2024 03 Etee presents her research at the CTAC Workshop.
Etee gave a presentation of her research at the CTAC workshop. In this talk, she focused on her robust fabrication processes to define small contacts on individual grains. Understanding local transport near gran boundaries is critical in the development of higher-performance CdTe solar cells. CdTe PVs are one of the most promising solar technologies that meet the LCOE (levelized cost of energy) of the Department of Energy. (more information).
2023 02 Congratulations, Etee!
We congratulate Etee on passing her PhD candidacy exam. She has made excellent progress in developing high-efficiency CdTe-based solar cells by adapting unique nanofabrication approaches. Many congratulations! Well-done.
2023 02 Receiving New Grant from CTAC
Dr. Yoon’s proposal has been selected for a new grant as part of the Cadmium Telluride Accelerator Consortium (CTAC). This project will be performed in close collaboration with the CATC research teams, including the National Renewable Research Laboratory (NREL), First Solar, the University of Toledo (PVIC), and many others. We are thrilled to work on this project.
